Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace on 8 September of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, this page will be updated with information about the period of national mourning and State funeral.

Most culture organisations and venues in Torbay - including theatres, museums, libraries and heritage settings - have confirmed they remain open. We advise you check with individual organisations or venues before travelling or visiting.

  • The International Agatha Christie Festival taking place 10 - 17 September is continuing. You can read the statement on the Festival website here.

  • Devon Open Studios taking place 10 - 25 September, across Devon including Torbay, is also continuing. Visit the website here.

  • Heritage Open Days free opening at Torquay Museum on 12 September continues.

  • The Ageing Well Festival on 17 September at the Riviera Centre organised by the Torbay Community Development Trust and partners is going ahead with modifications Visit the Ageing Well Festival here.

  • Please be aware that some activities and events planned for the coming days may be affected, subject to guidance. The date of the State Funeral, Monday 19 September is a national holiday, and this means many places may close.
