WHAT DOES GOOD CARE LOOK LIKE?

A group of Torbay artists are working with care home residents to explore what ‘good care’ means to them. Torbay Culture and Torbay Council have commissioned Devon based arts organisation Encounters to engage with care home residents during November and December 2017, with the aim to produce a Residents’ Rights Charter.

Situations presents: The Tale

Internationally renowned producer Situations (Theaster Gates’ Sanctum for Bristol and the 100-year Future Library in Oslo) has developed a new type of arts event for Torbay. The Tale will take place over three weekends in September 2017 and invites the audience to undertake a journey across three towns encountering artworks and performances inspired by Hoare’s writings on the untold stories of this place.

HOW THE ARTS COULD MAKE TORBAY A GREAT PLACE

A £1.2million project to put Torbay’s culture and creativity centre stage for locals and visitors has been launched. The Torbay Great Place Scheme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, could include events, trails and artwork to celebrate the Bay’s role in the life of Dame Agatha Christie or as a internationally recognised Unesco Geopark, a Festival of Light, and new digital guides to all that’s on among other projects.
