Torbay Cultural Strategy
Culture is the activities, places and values that give us a sense of identity and wellbeing as individuals and communities. It includes the arts, built and natural environment, heritage, libraries, media, museums, play, sport, tourism and informal leisure interests. Culture is also our shared experiences, our diverse backgrounds and what we consider valuable to pass on to future generations.
Culture is about our way of life and our quality of life.
As a cultural strategy, Enjoy, talk, do, be provides a shared vision, direction and way of working – something everyone can get behind to make a positive difference. Commissioned by Torbay Council through the TDA, with funding from Arts Council England, the strategy has been approved and adopted by the Council, one of many partners now involved in its delivery.
Strategy aims are to:
- increase engagement and participation in cultural opportunities in Torbay
- maximise the distinctive natural and built cultural assets of Torbay
- ensure cultural development is a key contributor to economic and social development in Torbay
